Signing up for a gym membership is the first step in improving your fitness. But joining a gym and actually going to the gym are two totally different things. Today I want to give you guys some helpful advice that will help you stay motivated in achieving your fitness goals. Here are my top tips to keep you motivated.
Have A Gym Buddy
By far the easiest way to keep motivated is by going to the gym with a friend. You see if you have a gym buddy then you can help motivate each other. As there will no doubt be days when you simply cannot be bothered to get your butt out the door and down to the gym. But if you have a partner pushing and motivating you, you will find it easier to make the effort. You can also do your partner the same good deed. By helping them stay motivated when things are going tough.
Look Past The Workout
Do not think about your grueling workout you are about to do. Instead thing about how pumped and great you are going to feel after your workout and how proud of yourself you will feel for making the effort to go to the gym. Also think how this one workout that you are thinking of missing is an extra step in helping you achieve those fitness goals you have set your self. Look at each work out as one step closer to getting the body you really want.
Know Why You Are Going To The Gym
Having a reason to be going to the gym is the perfect motivation. It could be something like you wanting to fit into a perfect pair of pants for a party in a few months. Or maybe you want to just be able to run a little faster and further. Or it could be you just want to be a little fitter in general. Having a purpose to be at the gym will make it far easier in getting up of the sofa to go!
Set Small Attainable Goals
When you first start going to the gym you will want to set yourself some goals. Being able to run a mile in four minutes after a couple of weeks is not an attainable goal and will leave you feeling deflated when you fail to achieve it. Instead set yourself small realistically reachable goals. For example if your first trip to the gym sees you being able to last three minutes on the treadmill. Then set yourself a small goal being able to last five minutes in four weeks. A small goal like this will do wonders in boosting your confidence and your love for the gym.
Make The Ultimate Workout Playlist
Music while you workout is a great motivator. Especially if you are working out on your own. Most gyms tend to play nothing, but dance music which if that’s your thing then fine. But for me nothing pumps me up more than some hard hitting heavy metal…… Iron Maiden not your thing? Well that is ok. Make up your own ultimate workout playlist of songs that you love. Make sure its songs that make you feel good and give you energy.
