We all have those people either in our personal life or in our work lives, maybe you are really unlucky and have them in both, that seem to make a habit of just being a pain in the butt. It could be pouring down with rain outside, but they will still say it’s a nice day just to be awkward. Today we are looking at a few simple ways that you can deal with this kind of people, ways that do not end up with you on a murder charge!
Dealing With Difficult People : Stay Calm
I once worked with this person who it seemed like would go out of their way to disagree with everything I said. I swear I could have gave them ten million dollars and they would have had something negative to say. More often than not I would snap and an argument would happen. An argument where I was the one raving like a lunatic while they just stood there. As frustrating as difficult people can be do not let them control your emotions, trust me, I learned this the hard way. Sometimes these types of people are the way they are just to get a reaction out of you. They find it funny when you get all worked up and people are then judging your behavior and not theirs.
Dealing With Difficult People : Walk Away My Friends, Walk Away
Unless it is absolutely necessary to your work day or a personal issue then do not talk to the person who is annoying you at all. Avoid them like they have the plague. I am not saying be rude, if they say hello shoot a hello back, but do not stay and chit chat, always have a reason to be somewhere else. If you are not around them then they cannot bother you! Do not give them the time of day if a conversation with them is just going to make you mad.
Dealing With Difficult People : Think About What They Say Before You React
Sometimes it can be very possible to take what people say the wrong way and before you know it you have gone crazy and are having a bust up with them. One way to deal with difficult people is to think before you react to what they say. I am not excusing their behavior, but sometimes difficult people are the way that they are and they do not even realize it. Or maybe they have something stressful going on outside of work that making them be difficult at work. Not all people are difficult for the sake of being so. Some do it without realizing and some do it because of being stressed.
Dealing With Difficult People : Know When To Fight & When To Ignore Them
I am not talking about a fist fight here, but most difficult people I have dealt with seem to get a kick out of confrontation. You need to learn what is worth standing your ground for and what is worth walking away from. For example if you say it’s a horrible day because it’s raining heavy and they then tell you no it a lovely day just to be awkward, this is not a huge deal, just walk away and ignore it. But if it’s something that is going to mess with your work life or a personal issue then you do have every right to stand up to them.
