I have been there before. Making up excuse after excuse as to why I could not exercise. I work late, I am too tired, I need to watch the kids, my knees hurt and many more. The truth is I was simply not ready to change my life and get my body in shape. Exercise is a great way to unwind and take away the stress of the day. There is nothing I like better when I have had a horrible day at work than taking all my frustrations out at the gym. By the time you have finished you have sweated and burned some serious calories, but thanks to the hormones that exercise releases to your brain you also feel so much better. I always feel like a million bucks after I have done a hard workout. Using exercise as a way to get rid of stress is far better than watching TV or eating potato chips!

One of the easiest ways to motivate yourself to workout is to do it with a friend. When you are struggling to run that extra minute on a treadmill and you want to quit, a workout buddy can help motivate you to push that little bit further. And in turn you can do the same thing for them. A workout buddy is also great for getting you to exercise in the first place. After a long day at work it can be hard to motivate yourself to hit the gym. But if you have a workout buddy then they are counting on you to go with them and they can help you get motivated to go and workout yourself.

One great way to motivate you to workout is that while your body changing is great. A new body also means a whole new wardrobe! We have all seen that perfect thing hanging on the rack in a clothing store only to pick it up and see its no in our size. Well if you want, say that summer dress for example, then get your butt down to the gym and work for it! Many people find that focusing on being able to fit into a certain dress or a pair of jeans is a great way to motivate themselves to work out every day.
