Making new friends and meeting new people who you can actually form a good friendship with when you are an adult is really hard. I have read a few very interesting studies recently that has shown that there are many people who are in their 30’s who have found that for one reason or another they do not have any friends. Making friends as an adult can be tough, but today I have a few places, events and things you can do which will put you into contact with people and who knows you may strike up a good friendship with someone.
Go To Local Events
One way to meet people who are in your local area is to go to local events. Things like markets, coffee mornings, garage sales and a million other things. If you get online and look I am sure that no matter where you live there will be a couple of things going on each week that you can go to and get yourself out there.
No really, I am being serious here. I have met some amazing people through church and before you start to worry there is not a religious or faith thing going on at all. As crazy as it sounds to me, church is not just about religion it’s about people coming together and being there for each other . If you ask me some of the best people out there are those who like to go to church and really get involved with their local communities. So even if you have not been to church since you were a kid, I am sure you will be welcomed with open arms. Also the church will have a whole bunch of their own events on during the year where you can get to know even more people.
Taking A New Class
Look at your local rec center, community center or community college and see what courses they have on during the evenings and during the day. I am not saying go and get a degree or anything like that. But find something you are interested in like baking or say craft work for example and join the class. Here you will meet people who clearly like the same kind of things that you do.
Take Up A Sport
You will be very surprised at how many adult sports leagues that there are. This is a fantastic way to meet some new people, but it also is going to help you get in shape and get back to playing sport. You may take up a whole new sport, or get back into one you loved when you were in high school. You do not have to join to “make the team” many people will go just to the training sessions.
Join A Club
This is kind of like the sports team one we just mentioned, but here we are talking about anything! You like books? Then have a look for a local book club in your area, if you cannot find one then go to the library and ask if they know of any. Like to walk? Then there are walking clubs popping up all over the place these days. If you cannot find a club that you are interested in then have you ever thought about starting one of your own?
