Today we are looking at some of the TV shows that I feel could have gone on a little longer than they did. Of course this is all down to personal preference so some of my choices may make you scratch your head. But before you think my choices are crazy please read my reasons as to why these TV shows should have gone on at least one season more.
The X-Files (1993-2002)
It lasted for 9 seasons! Is what I can hear you screaming at your monitor, but hear me out. Yes this show had a very long run and spawned two theatrical movies, but the 9th season of the X-Files was centered mainly round FBI agents Dogget and Reyes and not Mulder & Scully. I really think that the X-Files had the chance to leave Mulder & Scully behind and easily go on another long run focused on the new characters. The last season of the X-Files in unfairly hated on when really it’s darn good TV.
Talk about an under rated show! Ringer lasted for just one season and saw the incredibly talented Sarah Michelle Geller play the role of two identical twins. One had a life of luxury the other was a recovering drug addict and former stripper. Through a series of events the former drug addict ends up taking over the life of her wealthy dead sister, but all is not as it seems here. This was a great show and cancelled without any real closure! This was a well written, mystery show that really deserved another season to tie up all the loose ends.
Surface was an incredible family/sci-fi show about these mysterious creatures that were appearing in oceans all over the world. It was a great idea for a show and was told from two perspectives, one was a man whose brother was killed by one of the creatures who along with a scientist wants to find out what they are. And the other was from a kid who finds one of these seas creatures eggs and hatches it, essentially becoming the monsters dad! It was a series that had so much potential and it just flat out ended without giving us any closure at all!
This was a fun show about a journalist who has the world at her feet until one day she is fired! She ends up taking a job from a cosmetic mogul to look after and tutor her spoilt and filthy rich teenage grandchildren. This was just a darn good show that earns a place on this list for the fact the last ever episode ended with To Be Continued only it never was and the series was cancelled before the final episodes could be filmed.
Terra Nova (2011)
Ah Terra Nova in a just world this amazing time travel series is still running and is very popular. Terra Nova is set in the future in a world that mankind has pretty much ruined. But by going back to the time of dinosaurs, mankind has another chance to make things right. This was a great premise and there was many interesting ideas in this series. Sadly the show had sky high production values which meant each episode was very expensive to make. And the ratings were just not good enough to warrant such a high budget show.
