While I love to go to the gym and exercise I fully understand that for some people no matter how its dressed up the gym is just boring and an demotivating place to be. For you kind of people all hope is not lost and there is no point dragging yourself to the gym and paying a membership if you are not going to give it your all when you are there. Instead try playing a sport. A sport is not only a great deal of fun and a social event, but it also can get you in shape without you even realizing. Here are a few sports that I recommend you try out.
I am a huge advocate of basketball, my whole family plays and my partner and our two kids spend many a summer night playing two on two. You see basketball is a sport that really does give you a full body workout and even if you are not every good you can still burn some calories and have a great time. It’s the dribbling that puts some women off from jumping into basketball. So in that case I would recommend trying out netball. There is still plenty of running in netball, but once you have the ball you cannot run with it. If you have kids and a family you want to get healthy they basketball and netball are a great way to start and also fun.
I know that rowing clubs are not exactly something that is available everywhere, but if you cannot do the real thing, then try a rowing machine. You can even get these fun ones that plug into your TV that make you actually race a person. Rowing is a great work out and it pretty much pushes your whole body. The really cool thing about rowing is that while it will build muscle it will not make you overly big, but more cut and toned. So if you want to get a nice back and shoulders, but do not want to lift heavy weights then try rowing.
I am not talking about crazy gold here, but the real deal golf. Golf is a very “peaceful” sport that can also be a great deal of fun. The key here is that you play a full round, but you do not have a caddy or a motorized cart. Playing a full round of golf has been likened to spending around 40 minutes on a treadmill, except its nowhere near as boring.
Do you ever see a person who is serious about swimming that is in bad shape? The answer to this I would say 99 percent of the time will be a huge no. Swimming is a great sport and when you look at swimming as a sport rather than just something you do at your local YMCA or rec center, you will start to take it more serious. You can just do this one on your own, hit the pool and start doing some laps. Push yourself and challenge yourself with tasks like trying to do so many lengths in a set amount of time or maybe a speed challenge?
