We have been told since we were children that we should not waste food and that we need to eat all that is on our plates that we still do it when we are adults. It on average takes you stomach 20 minutes to tell your brain when it’s full so that is 20 minutes of overeating your can do! Avoid this by stopping when you feel like you have had enough. Start to get in the habit of making smaller portions to avoid wasting food.
Skipping Meals Does Not Make You Lose Weight
Some people think that by missing breakfast or skipping lunch that they will start to lose weight. This is not always the case as your body will be lacking blood sugar and as a result you will be much more likely to give into hunger cravings and grab something unhealthy out of a vending machine.
Say No To Alcohol
I have had many people say that their weight loss really did not start until they cut alcohol out of it. That one glass of wine or one beer can often lead to more. Alcohol is just full of empty calories and it can put a stop to your weight loss pretty fast. Ask yourself is that glass of wine with dinner really worth it? Is that beer after work worth derailing your weight loss for?
Food High In Fiber Is Good
High fiber foods are awesome when you are trying to lose weight. The reason that they are so good for a person on a diet is that they release their energy slowly so they keep you going for longer and take away the need for mid-morning snacking. You feel full for much longer so a nice bowl of porridge is a great way to start your day and get you to lunch time without needing a snack in between.
Do Some Exercise
Having a healthy diet is great, but to really maximize your weight loss you need to do some form of exercise. Join a gym, do a home work out DVD, play a sport, no matter what it is doing some form of exercise will make you lose weight faster than just dieting alone will.
