Since I was a kid, I have had a love for horror movies and scary stories. And I would love to go into all the old abandoned, decrepit buildings in the woods around my house. But even as much as I love the supernatural, the scary and the darn right creepy there are some places that even I would even need to bring a clean pair of underpants to if I ever went there. Here are a few of the creepiest places you will ever hear about!
Helltown, Summit County, Ohio
This is a woodland village where all the houses were bought out and supposed to be torn down for some government project, but it never came to be. And instead all these years later we have a ghost town full of old creepy falling apart homes. At the end of this place is a literal dead end. A dead end where legends say if you hang around too long you may very well never leave from! Escaped mental patients, evil cults, a giant snakes, mutants and all other kinds of creatures are said to roam these woods and live in the abandoned houses. If you ever wanted to feel like you were in a horror movie then just two minutes in Hell Town can do this for you.
The Mines Of Paris, Paris, France
Many people confuse this place with the creepy Catacombs Of Paris, but the Mines Of Paris are far worse! The tunnels cover an area of over 600 kilometers underneath Paris. Some areas are as much as 200 feet below street level. There are many tunnels, rooms, flooded areas, dead ends, rooms so small you only can crawl through and man hole covers that lead to nowhere. Worst of all the way that this underground maze is arranged out means that sound is muted in most places so if you did get lost down there chances are no one would ever hear your screams for help. To add to the creepy vibe are the numerous bones and creepy pictures on the wall that no one seems to know how old they are or who painted them. Going into the mines is illegal… Some say because of all the evil creatures that lurk down there in the dark.
Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The horrible and tragic history of this place is far worse than anything Hollywood could come up with. This place was where thousands of prisoners, many of whom had been forced to commit to crimes that they did not commit were brutally tortured and executed. This was an evil place and today it is said there are the better part of 20,000 vengeful spirits who still are stuck here. Spirits who are angry and many of the strange events that happen are because of them. Doors slamming, people getting pushed over, things being thrown and many more things have been seen by far too many people for there not to be a little truth in all the stories. The fact that there is legit evidence to prove that so many people were executed here, really does make this a very creepy place to be.
Leap Castle, County Offaly, Ireland
This place has a fascinating story of two feuding brothers, a brutal murder and now as a result we have a castle that is one of the most well-known creepy places on earth. Many people were executed in this castle and as a result there are many spirits here. The most well-known one is the Elemental, a very aggressive and violent beast who smells of rotten flesh and sulphur. One thing that is not a legend about Leap Castle is its oubliette. Where when renovations were being done on the castle had enough human remains to fill three carts. Prisoners would be thrown into here through a trap door and left to die.
