When it comes to exercising and toning your body, one area that often goes overlooked by the ladies is their shoulders. That’s not to say get shoulders like a body builder, but rather sleek and sexy.
Add these exercises into your weekly workout routine that you have and you’ll be pleased with the the results. Designed to sculpt, shape and tone your shoulders easy as one, two, three, shoulder workout hits your shoulders quick, but efficiently. This will only take you 5-8 minutes at the very most! All you need is a set of dumbbells and you are good to go.
How This Workout. Works
Ok, so we have three exercises for you. Upright Row, Arnold Press and Alternating Lat Raises. The idea here is that you will do one set of six upright rows then one set of six Arnold presses and then one set of six lat raises. You want to use a light weight as you will be going from one exercise to the other. One you have done all three, put down the dumbbells and catch a breather for 10 seconds and then go again. You want to do this four times and then you are done. Read on below to see how to execute each of the three exercises. As you get stronger you will want to increase the reps to 8-10 before you increase the weight.
Toning & Sculpting Your Shoulders : Upright Row
So grab a dumbbell in each of your hands and hold them by your waist so that your knuckles are facing forward and the dumbbells are side on. Now slowly lift up your elbows until they are shoulder height. Then slowly lower them back down. One thing to make sure of here is that you are keeping your wrists nice and firm and that you are not doing the exercise too fast. You will get better results if you take your time and do the exercise properly. Also remember that you need to have a weight that will allow for ten reps.
Toning & Sculpting Your Shoulders : Arnold Press
This is one of the very best exercises for toning the shoulders and was actually created by Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. But do not worry, doing these will not make your shoulders as big as his as we are using a light weight. Hold your dumbbells in front of your collarbones your palms should be facing your body. Now slowly lift your arms up above your head, but as you do, rotate your arms so that your palms are now facing away from you. Then slowly bring them back down, rotating as you do, so that you are back to your starting position. This really is one of the very best exercises for making your shoulders nice and firm.
Toning & Sculpting Your Shoulders : Alternative Lat Raises
This one is a real tough cookie! But it does get great results. With a dumbbell in each of your hands hold your arms out to your sides. You will feel a good burn just from doing this! Then one arm at a time slowly lower your left arm towards your side and then bring it back up. Switch to your other arm and then repeat. Make sure to keep your core nice and tight and do not swing your arm up.
