Now I like to work really hard when I am at the gym. By the time I leave my hair and face is a mess and I am just dripping with sweat because I have pushed myself so hard. If you work hard in the gym then you will look and smell gross and that is cool, it means you have worked hard and left it all on the gym floor! But my article today is to try and help some people be a little bit more aware and more courteous when it comes to their personal hygiene in the gym. Now to be fair I would bet that most people who are guilty of the things we are talking about today do not even realize that they are! But if you follow these rules you can make sure that you are not spreading any nasty germs around your gym.
Personal Hygiene In The Gym : Wipe Down The Machines
I could write a million articles about what to do and what not to do in the gym and wiping down the machines would be on every single one. There is nothing worse than going to sit on the exercise bike and feel someone’s unwiped, warm butt sweat! Ewwwww. Most gyms have disposable towels you can use, but I prefer to take my own and just give the machines a wipe down when I have finishes. Not just the cardio machines, but the exercise ones as well. You can easily buy a pack of cheap tea towels that can be used as gym towels, there is no need to buy an expensive towel to wipe away sweat!
Personal Hygiene In The Gym : Change Your Clothes!
This is one I have been guilty of before, but no matter what anyone says, if you ask me, you should have a clean pair of gym clothes on for each and every workout. Now you may think that I am going to tell you the reason for this is because of the smell. Well, that is part of the reason, but the main part of the reason is the bacteria. Sweat can make millions and millions of little bacteria and when you are working out your old nasty three day old sweat can go flying everywhere! By washing your clothes after each workout you are making sure they do not get all stinky and bacteria ridden.
Personal Hygiene In The Gym : Wash Your Hands
Come on, I know that I am not the only one who uses the bathroom before they workout, or even if you need to go while you are working out. If there is a time where it can be tempting to not wash your hands after the bathroom it is at the gym. But the gym is a place that is full of bacteria so make sure you are washing your hands. Also after your workout it’s a great idea to either go to the bathroom and wash your hands or maybe, if you gym has one, use one of those little hand sanitizer machines that hang on the wall.
Personal Hygiene In The Gym : Wash Water Bottle
Your water bottle is home to millions of bacteria! Plastic water bottles are like a holiday hotspot for all kinds of nasty bacteria and many people just empty them and then refill them without even washing them! Fact is even with a good scrub, plastic water bottles are really hard to get properly clean. Either you can buy a metal water bottle or you can make sure you are really giving your plastic one a good clean. The way to do this is leave it soaking in some nice warm and soapy water and then make sure you give it a good rinse.
