5 Healthy Eating Myths Busted

in Healthy Eating, Weight Loss on 24/06/19

Eating right in theory should be easier than ever thanks to the internet, but there are still a lot of confused people out there who are still not 100 percent sure of what exactly makes up a healthy diet. Well today to make things a little easier we are looking at some of the more common healthy eating myths that are simply not true!

Myth #1: Stay Away From Frozen Fruits & Vegetables

Myth #1: Stay Away From Frozen Fruits & Vegetables

This one is just crazy! There are those who swear that to get all the essential nutrients out of fruit and vegetables that you need to eat them fresh. WellР± frozen fruits and vegetables are frozen within just a couple of hours being picked which keeps in the majority of the good stuff. Sure if you can buy fresh every day then go for it. But there is nothing wrong with having a good stock in the freezer of frozen fruit. I always have a good supply of frozen fruit (usually berries) in my freezer for those days when I cannot be bothered to make something healthy.

Myth #2: Your Body Needs A Drink Or Pill To Detox

These are a huge fad and people swear that you need to detox or cleanse your body every once and a while. While there is nothing really wrong with doing these things, it’s not really essential to be healthy. Your body already has a built in way of getting rid of the bad stuff and doing its own detox. But if doing a cleanse with a pill or a drink makes your feel healthy then I guess it can be a good thing. Just do not think it’s something that is essential to being healthy.  And certainly do not pay a ton of money for drinks or pills!

Myth #3: Calories Are All The Same

Myth #3: Calories Are All The Same

Counting calories is a great way to lose weight and it can help you learn what is good for you and what is not. But let’s look at it this way do you think that 200 calories worth of donuts is the same as 200 calories of fresh fruit? Of course it’s not, they both have the same calorie count, but one is clearly far better for your body than the other. It’s great to passionate about counting calories, but make sure you are taking into consideration the type of food you are eating too. As well as the calories you have to look at what else is in the food.

Myth #4: Stay Away From Fat

The first thing that some people feel they need to cut out of their diets when they start to eat healthy is fat. Your body actually needs fat to run properly. The key thing here is to learn about the right kind of fat to be putting into your body. I understand why people think cutting out fat would be a good thing, but make sure it’s the right fat you are cutting out.

Myth #5: My Diet Is Better Than Your Diet

Myth #5: My Diet Is Better Than Your Diet

The trouble with this is that we are all different and our bodies can all react in different ways and as people we can enjoy one thing more than another. The point I am trying to make is the best diet for you is the one you like to do and the one that actually makes you lose weight. For example I was on Weight Watchers and I just could not get into it at all. This is nothing against Weight Watchers as I have friends who have had amazing results on it. It just was not for me. But when I joined Slimming World, things made much more sense to me and I had better success. And likewise I have known people who did not like Slimming World. Do not be pulled in by the latest fad diets. Go for the one that sounds like it suits you as a person.
