So you have decided for whatever reason that you want to start to make some changes in the kitchen and develop a healthy eating lifestyle. Well, first of all let me give you a round of applause….. sorry about that I could not type and clap at the same time. Anyway today I have a few things to think about as you undertake this amazing new healthy eating lifestyle. And if you are already eating right then maybe there are a few things here to help you out!
Do You Really Want That Drink?
Thinking before you drink is a great way to lose up to 40 pounds in a year. The average Joe on the street is said to consume around 400 calories per day just from what they are drinking! Most of these calories are from sugar, sweeteners and god knows what else. Is that can of Pepsi really worth those extra calories? Healthy eating means you need to watch what you are drinking as well as what you are eating.
Look On The Back Of The Box
How much easier would it be to eat healthy if you could just pick up everything in the store that has diet or low fat written on it and it actually be good for you? The sad fact is most of the things that are low fat have added things in them which may make them lower in fat, but it does not mean they are good for you. Ignore what is written on the front on the box and look to the back to see what is really in this food that is supposedly good for you.
Turn Off Your Oven/Stove
When you make something on your stove, turn off the heat about three minutes before you normally would. What is the point in this I can hear you asking? Well let me tell you. Overcooking food can make all the good stuff such as nutrients, flavor and the other goodness go away! So take it off the stove and leave it to sit on a plate or whatever for the final three minutes.
Stock Up On Oatmeal & Brown Rice
What! Please hear me out with this one guys. Each Sunday I will make a large batch of both oatmeal and brown rice and then store it for me to eat later in the week. Now I am of course not saying you mix these together. But these are both really filling and with the Oatmeal I have something that is healthy which I can just grab out the fridge for breakfast if I cannot be bothered to make something one morning. And the brown rice goes with tons of my main meals that I have during the week. It does not have to be oatmeal and brown rice, but make a large batch of something that is healthy and you can keep it in the fridge to eat the whole week!
Have A Balanced Diet
This sounds obvious I know, but it’s something that far too many people all over the world do no not do. If you want to eat healthy to either lose weight or in general just feel better then you need to have a balanced diet. Try and make your meals be a good mix of carbs, protein and fats so that your body is getting all that it needs to keep running smoothly.
