I like to think that these days, after years and years of struggle that I am pretty good with making sure I have for the most part a healthy and balanced diet. I am a firm believer though that even if you have a healthy diet that you should not deny yourself the tasty things that you enjoy to eat. After all life is far too short to not eat the things you love. in moderation. This my friends, is the key to keeping a healthy eating lifestyle and the easiest way to enjoy what you like to eat is with a cheat day!
Know What A Good Cheat Day
Some people make the mistake of thinking that a cheat day means that once per week they can just go all out and eat whatever they want all day. Well yes you could do this, but this is a very slippery slope. For me a good cheat day usually happens on the weekend as you are more likely to be out and about then. And if you want to grab a burger king for lunch or maybe have a nice big fat pizza for your main meal then you allow yourself to do it. You let yourself for one meal one day per week to just eat whatever the heck you want! The real key is to not just give yourself a free pass and go crazy for a whole 24 hours just binge eating on junk food!
Having A Cheat Day Means You Are Less Likely To Cheat During The Whole Week
When you have a cheat day this is something that you can look forward to for the week. It makes your strict diet not seem to brutal or unfair. As you know that at a point in the week you are getting to eat something that you just adore because you have worked hard, eating healthily for the rest of the week. Without a cheat day you are much more likely to fall of the wagon one day where eating that one Pringle out of the can results in your binge eating the whole thing. But if you have a cheat day you can then think no I will not eat that today, I will wait for my cheat day!
It Motivates You For The Week
One of the best things about having a cheat day is that it really does motivate you to stick to your healthy eating lifestyle. Sometimes, and trust me I am speaking from vast experience here, when you are on a diet it can feel like you are being punished or that the whole thing is just one big fat chore. But by having a cheat day at least one day per week you are allow yourself to cut lose and eat what you want, you will be amazed at how this will make you want to eat healthily during the rest of the week. The way that I look at my cheat day and some people will tell you this is wrong, but it works for me and I hope it works for you. Is that I am very strict with my calorie count during the week, but on a Saturday I do not count a single calorie and my reasoning is that I have earned these fun, bonus and tasty calories at the weekend.
