Some guy told you that their friend of a friend who used to work as a personal trainer used to train a health expert and that they told them this food would help you lose weight and is great for you. While a bit long winded this is the way many of us end up eating things we think are healthy, but are actually not. If someone tells us that this low fat chocolate bar is healthy then we will blindly ram it down our throats. Here we have a list of some food that many people think are healthy, but there are actually not.
Not So Healthy Food: Sports Drinks
Your local store no doubt has a ton of sports type drinks that are supposedly healthy, but the general rule to go by is that if any of these types of drinks have more than two ingredients in them do not have them. The reason for this is that any drink which has more than a few different ingredients in it is bound to have some kind of sugar or artificial sweetener in it. Which is not great for your insides or your pants size either! Rather than grabbing that sports drink just grab a plain bottled water.
Not So Healthy Food: In Store Smoothies
The only way to have a healthy smoothie if you ask me is to make it yourself. These store bought smoothies are full to the brim of calories. In some cases they have as many as a McDonalds cheeseburger!!!! Sure smoothies have fruit, vegetables and other healthy things in them. But to make them taste nice they often will have some type of sugar or syrup in there. Also store bought smoothies tend to come in these huge containers. People tend to think they will be healthier if they say skip lunch and have a smoothie. But the fact is the smoothie probably is worse for you than your regular lunch would be! If you love smoothies then make it yourself as you are then in full control of how many calories they have.
Not So Healthy Food: Trail Mix
Grabbing a handful of trail mix before you leave for work or while you are in the car is a great and low calorie way to crave your hunger right…. right. Well no, while you can get healthy trail mix out there. Most store bought trail mix though is full of things like chocolate, deep friend banana chips, yogurt covered raisins and even candy! Just a few handfuls of trail mix can easily be over 500 calories!!! If you like trail mix as a snack, make sure it’s healthy trail mix not the kind that is full to the brim with sweet treats.
Not So Healthy Food: Diet Frozen Micro Meals
Now these are very convenient and once in a while after a hard days work when you cannot be bothered to cook, they are not that bad. But do not make these supposedly diet and healthy micro meals the staple of your diet. These are often full to the brim with sodium and yes they for the most part are low in calories, but they are also very low in good nutritional value as well. They may be quick and convenient and not make you pile on the pounds, but they do not provide your body with what it needs in a main meal.
Not So Healthy Food: Healthy Chocolate, Cereal Or Whatever Bars
We are often pulled into these kinds of bars with promises of a high protein content or a high fiber content. These truth be told are pretty much just like a candy bar. Sure they will have the added protein or fiber in there. But that is it. These are not some kind of miracle snacks that far to many people think they are.
