Sometimes after a hard day’s work on the drive home there is no way you can resist those golden arches you can see in the distance. You pull into the McDonalds drive through and grab some fast food. There was a time when this would be disastrous for a person trying to eat healthy, but to their credit many of the major fast food joints in the world have done a remarkable job in offering more healthy alternatives for people. Here are some of the healthy and tasty things to look out for when you get that urge for some fast food. Or if the kids really want to go to Burger King, you can still eat healthy while they ram a dozen nuggets down their throats.
Healthy Options When It Comes To Fast Food : Subway
6 Inch Turkey Breast Sandwich
Ok first thing make sure that you get this on, nine grain wheat bread. Now I go all out when I have this at Subway. I load this sucker up with various vegetables, a little mustard and avocados. This runs at around 330-380 calories and its really filling. If I am in need of something to get me through a few hours then this would be my fast food of choice. Just make sure you fill it to the brim with vegetables. I usually ask them to keep doing it until they get an angry look on their face!
Healthy Options When It Comes To Fast Food : McDonalds
Premium Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Man not only does this taste great, but it’s also not too bad for you either. Now do not get mayo on this bad boy. Instead make sure you ask for extra lettuce and tomato. Ditching the mayo saves you around 50 calories. If you want to drop even more calories you can get rid of the top of the bun! This will save you a further 100 calories.
Healthy Options When It Comes To Fast Food : KFC
Grilled Chicken Drumsticks, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans
Now let me say right away that you need to strip the skin of the drumsticks. I know , I know that the skin is freaking amazing, but these actually taste really good without them and the skin is really not worth the extra calories. Now with the mash potatoes it can be tempting to just drown then in that amazing, KFC gravy. But what I do is I just dip the fork in the gravy and then put that in the mash potatoes. This still gives me the great taste of the KFC gravy, but it brings down the calories I am eating. Again let me say for this to be a healthy option you must take the skin of the drumsticks. Man KFC really need to do a line of chicken products without the skin!
Healthy Options When It Comes To Fast Food : Burger King
Whopper Junior With Garden Salad As A Side
Man this is my weakness, Burger King. When I walk to that counter it takes all my will power not to order a large XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger meal! And sometimes I will admit that I do slip. But for a hell of a more healthy option at BK go for the Whopper Junior. I keep the cheese on it, but I do not get mayo. This whole burger is only around 300 calories. I take the lettuce from my side salad and put that on my burger as well to make it more filling.
