Trying to get your kids to eat healthy can be one of the most stressful and brutal things in the world. It’s one thing deciding that you want to start a new healthy eating regime, but getting the kids on board can be one heck of a challenge. Well, to try and help you guys avoid the shouting matches me and my kids had when I wanted them to eat something healthy and they wanted a whole pack of cookies, I have a few healthy snack ideas that can ease your kids into healthy eating.
Healthy Snacks For Kids : Low Fat Super Mario Cheese Stars
You will be amazed at what kids will eat if it’s in the shape of something cool. My son would eat a cheese pizza every day of the week, but to try and get him to eat some low fat healthy cheese would be like trying to offer a person poison.. He was having none of it! So I found a tip that suggested cutting cheese into shapes. Now I am no artist, but I was able to cut some very crude looking stars out of cheese and told my son these were Super Mario Cheese Stars. He loved them and now these are the main snack he asks for.
Healthy Snacks For Kids : Banana Bread Fruit Muffins
This one is a bit sneaky, but if you want your kids to eat fruit then try this one out. Bake or buy some low fat banana bread muffins and then instead of chocolate stuff them with small pieces of fruit. I found that when I used bigger pieces of fruit the kids freaked out and said they hated it, but the smaller pieces give the muffins a nice taste without it seeming like you are making them eat fruit. Banana Bread with strawberry is a huge hit around my house and it’s much better than the chocolate chip, full of fat muffins that you can buy in the store. You can even get your kids involved making these with you.
Healthy Snacks For Kids : Whole Grain Fruit Cereal For Breakfast
Like most kids the choice that my two would make each morning for breakfast was something that was covered in chocolate. My son would say he liked the way it changed the milk chocolaty. Well I would buy a healthy whole grain cereal and cut up tiny pieces of strawberries and put them in the milk and mix it around to make the milk strawberry flavored then add the cereal. My son loved it and had no idea that he was eating a healthy breakfast. It does not have to be strawberries, but I have found that they seem to add more flavor to the milk than the other fruit he likes. But change things up and come up with your own winning combination.
Healthy Snacks For Kids : Sweet Potatoes Meteor Rocks
These are nothing fancy, just homemade sweet potato chips. But to get my kids more interested in them I told them that they were special out of space potato chips that aliens eat on a far off planet. They thought this was funny and as the months past they just liked these tasty potato chip alternatives for being what they are. If you kids love to eat bag after bag of potato chips then try making sweet potato chips.
