Sometimes life kicks us in the guts so many times that before we know it we have turned to a real grouchy sour puss. And no one wants to be around a grouchy sour puss, heck no one of course wants to be one either. Still if you are in some kind of funk or rut, then it can feel like the sun is never going to shine on you and that you are stuck being miserable forever! But that is not the case, you can be happy, but it’s down to you to make the changes. Here are a few ways to bring your smile back or make your smile a little brighter.
Have A Laugh. Sometimes At Yourself!
Having a sense of humor is crucial to being a happy person. We all have our own kind of sense of humor and we all find different things funny. But being able to laugh at yourself and find the humor in things that have not gone your way is a great step to not only being a happy person, but in also stopping you being grumpy. Let’s say you spill coffee on your shirt at work. Getting all mad and in a bad mood over it is just going to ruin your day. Laugh it off make a joke of it and move on! This example can be applied to many things life throws your way.
Be Happy With What You Have
We all want more in life, that my friends is human nature. But when you are feeling a little down in the dumps rather than dwelling on what is wrong and what you do not have, take a moment to think about the things that are good in your life. Kids, family, friends, pets, health, heck even something like your brand new TV. It does not matter what it is, but take a moment to think of something in your life that you love no matter if it’s a person or some kind of object.
Smile In The Morning
The best way to start your day is when you are looking at yourself in the morning and you look like a zombie to make yourself smile. A big goofy smile and keep on doing it until that forced smile is replaced with a real one laughing at how goofy you look. A nice smile and a little laughter is a sure fire way to make sure your mind is in a happy frame of mind before you take on what the world has for you on that day.
Do Things That Make You Happy!
We all have our hobbies. For me I will be honest I love to go running. So if I have had a bad day at work or an argument with my significant other or maybe I am just not feeling too happy, then rather sitting at home under a rain cloud, I go for a run which always perks up my mood. Now I am not saying that you need to take up running. Just do what it is that makes you happy. It can be anything like watching a TV show, reading a book, playing with the kids. Just do whatever it is that can turn your frown upside down!
Be Happy With Who You Are
This one can be real tough, especially if you are in a bit of a down mood, but you really need to make peace with you who are and focus on what your good qualities are. Forget about the people who put you down or are not your real friends. And think about your family and those friends who love and care for you, because of who you are inside as a person.
