When I first started to really make an effort to eat healthy I was all over the place. Heck who am I kidding, even these days there will be a day, a weekend, maybe even a few days were I just overindulge in terrible, bad for me food. This back in the day was a slippery slope that would see me ditch my healthy eating lifestyle and go back to eating microwave burgers, slushies’ and other less than great stuff. But over the years I have learned not how to stop these lapses and to not as often overindulge in unhealthy food, but I have learned how to get over it when I do and I want to share it with you.
Getting Over Episodic Ditching Your Healthy Eating
I would be filled with guilt as I sat there stuffing some chicken nuggets into my mouth, but at the same time I would not stop. It’s normal to fill guilty once you have strayed away from your new healthy eating lifestyle, but the trick is to get over it as quickly as possible. You may think that by over eating garage for a couple of days has totally ruined you, but that’s not the case and the fact is while you have fallen off the wagon you could have put on a couple of pounds, but no major damage has been done, so just brush yourself off and get back on!
Just See This As A Break
I have been a yo-yo dieter all my life and I would say just the past 4 or 5 years I have really got a handle on eating healthily, but there are still times that I will slip up and have a weekend where I will just pig out. The mistake I would make in the past would be just throwing my hands in the air, saying what’s the point and continuing this and then go buy a 12 pack of Dr Pepper and a few cans of Pringles. Do not do this, you are stronger than that. Just look at your weekend binge eating session as a break and that you will get back to healthy eating the next day. Not giving up and realizing that once in a while you can just eat whatever the heck you want, as you know you can get back on track with your healthy eating, is not bad at all.
Read About Other People Who Eat Healthy
Go online and read peoples stories about how they have had their life transformed thanks to a healthy eating diet. I promise you many of these stories will probably mirror your own. And these are a great way of getting you in the mind set of, if they can do it, so can I! And before you know it you are back to being motivated to lose weight, eat healthy and get back on track to being a healthier person.
Eat Something High In Fiber When Returning To Healthy Eating
When I have a break from healthy eating or I break down and binge eat for a day on junk, the first thing I do and that I recommend you do is to have breakfast the next day that is just full of fiber. My choice would be this, a high fiber cereal (whatever one you like best) and skim milk. Try and get a cereal that is around 25-30 grams of fiber per cup. What is the point of this? Well without giving you too much information, eating this high fiber cereal the next day is a great way to help your body get rid of all the junk you put in it just the day or days before.
