Today we are having a little fun by looking at some of the best ways that you can go on a family vacation. We are not talking about the actual destination here. But for the most part this is all about making your journey to your vacation a big part of the experience. I know some people hate to travel, but I love it and these are a few of the ways that I either love to travel with my family or if one day I have a huge lottery win, we will travel!
I love to take the train! One of my favorite journeys when I used to live in the UK was travelling all the way from London to Edinburgh in Scotland to visit my parents. There is just something so cool about the train. It’s the ultimate chilled out way to get to your destination and if you get a kick out of the scenery then the train is a wonderful way to travel. I used to always try and book seats that have a table so that the kids could have their books, toys or whatever out and they could also have a good time.
Ah the classic family road trip in the car. Load the car up with the snacks, some great tunes and tie all the luggage to the roof and you are starting your vacation off in the best way. Sure within an hour the kids will be driving your crazy and you and your partner will be arguing about which way to go. But the start of every car road trip is one with optimism and excitement. My family these days hates to travel by car when we go on location, but there is still something very special about loading the family up and hitting the road. Also this way means that you can stop whenever you want so you can even put a few sightseeing stops on the way to your destination.
Ok so I have only taken one vacation that used a ferry and it was when I lived in the UK and we went to Euro Disney in Paris, but this was a really fun way to travel and the kids and even my partner felt like it was one huge adventure. The kids in particular could not sit still and wanted to explore every nook and cranny of the ferry that they were allowed to. It may not be the most luxurious way to travel, but if you get the chance to go on the ferry I am sure your kids will absolutely love it.
If I win the lottery this will be one of the things I first do! I know that going on a cruise ship is not as expensive as it used to be. But this is still something that can be very pricy, but this is really something that is on my bucket list. I have got to be honest I do not even care about the destination. I just want the whole cruise ship experience . The eating on the ship, the movie theater, the swimming pool, the stage, dancing, the capsizing, well maybe not the capsizing, but in regards to everything else. I want it all! If you have been lucky enough to go on a nice cruise then I am so jelly of your right now 🙂
