5 Tips For Getting A Good Night's Sleep

It seems like the majority of people I talk to these days have at least a couple of days a week where they just get a really rotten night’s sleep. Tossing and turning, waking up multiple times and even taking an age to fall asleep. Lack of sleep really does start your next day off in the worst possible way. There is no scientific way to make yourself get a good night’s sleep, but today we have a few tips that have helped people all over the world sleep a little better.

Have A Regular Bed Time & Wake Up Time

One of the best ways to get your body into the routine of shutting down for the day so that you can have a great night’s sleep is by having an actual bed time. Making sure you are in bed with no TV, book, Game Boy or anything else to keep you awake. So go to bed at let’s say 11 and then wake up at 7 the next morning. After a while your body will start to get into a rhythm. Going to bed and waking up at random times each day throws your body clock off.

Do Not Nap After Dinner

Having a power nap say half way through the day for an hour has been proven a great way to catch up on lost sleep. But one of the worst ways you can screw up your sleep is by getting drowsy after dinner and having a nap for an hour at say 7 or 8 in the evening. Doing this is going to make it really hard for you to drop off into a nice sleep when you try later in the evening. If you do find yourself falling asleep on the sofa, then get up and get moving around.

Make Your Bedroom Perfect For Sleep

When you do finally lay down for the night you want your bedroom to be a room that is made for sleep and sleep alone. The best way to do this is first of all make sure that your bedroom is really dark. It can be hard to sleep when you have outside street lights booming in or if you have a LCD clock with a bright light. Also make sure the room is cool enough so that you are not getting all hot and bothered as you try to sleep.

Your Bed Needs To Be Comfy

Now I am not saying you need a really expensive bed, but when I was having sleep problems I realized that I had been sleeping on the same bed for 8 years and the mattress was just all lumpy and horrible. Now when I think back, it’s no wonder I had a hard time sleeping on it. If you are suffering from a lack of sleep then as unexciting as it may sound try saving up and getting yourself a new bed or at least a new mattress. Many people swear by those memory foam mattresses so that could be a cheaper option for you.

Your Bed Is For Sleep & Sex Only!

Your Bed Is For Sleep & Sex Only!

People make the mistake of treating their bed as a place to watch TV or even as a work space. Doing things like this makes you not associate your bed as a place to relax and it can make it hard for your mind to switch off. So if you do need to type up a report then use a desk or even a chair, not your bed!
