The fact that you are hitting the gym is a good thing. But more and more people quit the gym because they do not feel like the effort they are putting in is getting them the results that they want. Now to be fair, some people just do not understand why all their working out is leading to what feels like nothing. But there may be many reasons as to why your work out is not getting you the results that you desire. Today we are looking at a few of the possible reasons as to why your workouts are not working.
You Are Not Working Hard Enough!
Ok I know that this one may sound harsh, but the fact of the matter is that the reason some people are not getting the results that they desire in the gym is because they are not pushing themselves enough. If you have been going to the gym for say six months and are still doing the exact same workout that you did on day 1 with the same weights and the same intensity, then of course your body is not going to change. Your body adapts to the workouts you put it through and that is why you need to keep stepping things up.
You Are Working Out Too Much
As crazy as it sounds you can very easily over train. It’s very easy for a person to become addicted to the gym and love that feeling they get when they are working out. Working out like a maniac everyday should make you strong like a superhero. But actually if you fail to let your body rest by having a day off from working out then you are at great risk of breaking down your muscles rather than building them! If you get to a point where you whole body is aching and you have headaches and in general are not feeling great, then take a few days off from working out. Trust me, your body will benefit from this rest.
You Are Not Eating Right
Some people are of the impression that as long as they work out then they can eat whatever they want. Well you can eat whatever you want, but you are not going to get the results you want while doing so. You need to make sure that your body is getting the right nutrition so that you can fuel these workouts you are doing. Eating too much can result in you gaining weight or just staying where you are. And failing to eat the right amount will see you not have enough energy to workout properly.
You Are Not Lifting Weights
It’s mainly ladies who are scared of lifting weight for fear of turning into some kind of muscle bound amazon. Well only doing cardio is not going to see you get the body you want. Cardio is great and vital for burning fat, but if you want to tone, shape and sculpt the body of your dreams, then you are going to have to lift some weights and use the various exercise machines at your gym. A new and improved body needs both cardio and strength training.
Treating Yourself For Hitting the Gym
I was guilty of chowing down a whole pizza because I had worked hard in the gym. Well I very well may have busted my butt in the gym, but by eating something full of fat I had pretty much just rendered all the work I had done pretty pointless. Treating yourself in moderation is great, but do not spoil the hard work you have done in the gym with unnecessary treats more often than you should!
