Today I wanted to have a little fun and look at some of the people who have gotten married at places that are not a church, courthouse or even a drive through chapel in Vegas. While for some I am sure the idea of getting married in these places seems kind of crazy, but I think it looks a lot of fun and it’s nice to see people wanting to be themselves and get married the way they want to. So here are a few of the craziest places that people have tied the knot!
Trang Underwater Wedding: Thailand
An underwater wedding is not special reserved for Ariel, actually did she even get married under the sea? This is an annual thing that has been running for nearly 20 years now. Each Valentine’s day, happy couples will walk through the streets of Trang where they are led to an underwater wedding ceremony. While this is a fun idea I think the wedding photos on your mantle may take some explaining.
Grand Canyon: USA
Well Point Imperial to be exact which is the highest point in the Grand Canyon. This is a very special place to get married as the small peak is only able to hold ten people. You need to get all kinds of permits to make this happen, but it does make for some truly breathtaking wedding photos. Now as amazing and magical as all this sounds there is the small detail of actually trekking up to Point Imperial!
Mount Everest: Nepal
No way people have got married on Mount Everest! Well actually a couple in 2005 did just that. They climbed the mountain and then for a brief moment they removed their oxygen masks to tie the knot! Now that is a story they will tell in their family for generations. A more safe and less demanding, but still pretty cool way to get married here is to get married at base camp which a couple from the Czech Republic did.
Tutbury Castle: UK
Or should I say Haunted Tutbury Castle as it is more commonly known as. This is a wedding for you people who like things that go bump in the night. This is one of the most haunted places in the whole UK and there is nothing more spooky than having a midnight wedding here. They have special midnight weddingceremonies which actually are pretty popular.
Bungee Jump: World Wide
Now this is just nuts, but this is perhaps the least unusual way to get married on this list as many people all over the world do this each year! So you and the groom stand there, bungee tied around you and you are actually all dressed up in your wedding gear and then you leap off whatever structure you are on and say your vows. It’s my understanding that you either do the vows as you are jumping, which I am not sure how that works to be honest. Or once you have said I do you leap into your new life.
Outer Space: Erm, Space
Get the heck out of here I can hear some of you people saying. Virgin Galactic are going to be the first company to offer a trip to the stars for people who have a ton of money and two people who have booked onto this are actually planning on getting married as they float above the earth! My question is this, is a marriage license in outer space actually valid on Earth? ๐
