The dating game really is nerve wrecking and actually can be pretty cut throat too! So a first date can be a really awkward thing to go through with the both of you not really sure of what to say. For many people a first date is make or break and if they feel no connection then they will not bother with a second date. Today I want to try and help you out by giving you a few things that you should not do on a first date.
Talk About Your Ex
No man or woman wants to sit across from you and within ten minutes of the date starting hear you talk about your ex or anyone else you may have been with in the past. Just think, why on earth would a new person you are with want to hear this? As the relationship gets more serious, then it’s only natural to be curious about each other’s pasts, but a first date is not the time or the place to be airing all your past conquests.
Wear Something Inappropriate
By this I mean you want to make it at least look like you made an effort, but at the same time you do not want to try too hard. The best advice I can give you guys here is to wear what you would wear if you were going out for a casual dinner with one of your best girlfriends. You will feel more natural and more confident. You do not want to wear something that has you on, let’s just say display and at the same time you do not want to roll up to the date wearing a pair of sweats and your old as hell Nike’s.
You may want to have a glass of wine to take away those first date nerves and there are many people who actually will recommend doing this. But the last thing you want to do is ask the waiter to leave the bottle. Getting to drunk can lead to you saying things you would not normally say and in general you can embarrass yourself and make your date think what the heck am I doing here so one glass of wine is fine, maybe even a second with dinner is ok, but no more than that!
First dates more often than not tend to have awkward moments to them. This is not a reflection on you it’s just the way it is really. But try as hard as you can not to treat the date like you are interviewing them. Bombarding them with one question after another. It’s one thing to take an interest in them it’s another to start asking them things like where they will be in five years’ time, what motivates them to succeed and other things that are more at home in a job interview than a first date.
Come Across As To Keen
It’s more than ok to say things like I am having a good time I love this place and show a general interest in your date. But do not start telling them things like you are having the best date of your life or that you feel a very strong connection with them that you have never felt before. If you are pleasant, friendly and are interested in what they have to say then that shows that you are having a good time. Saying that you have never felt like this before shows that you are a little too keen and maybe a little crazy!
