Each time you go to do your weekly, daily or whatever food shop you will probably have the very best of intentions that you are going to buy nice and healthy foods, but the fact is the supermarkets are all against you. Their isles are all methodically planned out so that you will buy stuff that not only you really do not need or want, but is also not healthy at all! I swear the people that plan out these supermarkets are like some kind of evil geniuses! But if you follow my tips then you can make sure that at the end of your shopping trip you have a shopping cart full of healthy food!
Use A Food Diary To Plan Your Healthy Meals
The best and easiest way to ensure that your meals are nice and healthy is by planning ahead. You see if you do not plan what meals you are going to eat, then chances are when you roll in from work at say 6pm or whenever, you really will not want to stand over the counter making your meal or struggling to find the ingredients for said meal. You see by planning your meals in advance you can make sure that you have all the items you need in your kitchen ready so that making your meals is not a huge chore. And also falling in line with this is that you can prepare your meals for the next day the night before.
Plan Out And Have A Shopping List
One of the worst things a person can do when they need to go food shopping is just waltzing into the supermarket without a shopping list. But before you even head to the store you need to have a look in your pantry and a look in your food diary (see the step above this one!) and see what food items you actually need for your week of healthy eating. Anyway once you get to the supermarket it is important that you stick to your list. I do not care if there is an amazing deal on a 6 pack of Pepsi! If it is not on your list then you do not need it! Get what’s on your list, pay for it and then get out of there! Do not browse in the supermarket as you will no doubt end up buying stuff you do not need.
Do Not Let The Supermarket Mess With Your Mind
While you are in a supermarket you are pretty much bombarded by deals. Deals that sometimes make no sense what so ever and can lead to you not only buying things that are not good for you, but also wasting money. For example recently I fell into this trap by buying three loafs of bread for the price of two. I did not need two loafs of bread, let alone a third, so while, yes, in theory buying these three loafs of bread was a great deal. When you consider the fact that I forced myself to eat more bread than normal that week and still ended up having to throw about a loaf and a half in the garbage, it really was not that great a deal. Do not get sucked into all the amazing deals your supermarket has.
