I am something of a gym rat. I love the gym and I do get a real kick when I see a person who has never really exercised before coming in and wanting to start to workout. I always want to go over and give them a big pat on the back and say well done you. Of course that would be very creepy and would probably result in that person never stepping foot in the gym and myself being asked to leave. But. There are things I have seen in the gym that just make me shake my head and say really! Today I want to share with you guys some of the things that no one should be doing in the gym! We are having some fun with this article today, but I swear that these are all things I have witnessed in different gyms over the years.
What Are You Wearing!
We all have different fashion tastes and what I think is cool to wear in the gym – baggy shorts, basketball vest and a goofy smile on my face, – is seen by some as just stupid and that is cool, I can accept that. But some people and I have seen this more often than I should, literally walk in off the streets in their street clothes and work out! I have seen people working out in jeans, a freaking skirt and most mind blowing of all – this one guy rolls in with a pair of what looked like expensive pants and an even more expensive pair of loafers and proceeded to hit the exercise bike! Wear clothes that are comfortable, but draw the line at working out in street clothes.
Pay Attention To What You Are Doing
Now it maybe because I am a pretty clumsy person, but I always make a point to actually look where I am walking. And if I am in a gym or anywhere else I could get seriously hurt then you bet I am going to pay attention. I would need a few extra pair of hands to list the amount of times I have seen people fall, trip and even hit people with a piece of exercise equipment. And this 99/100 happens simply because they are not watching what they are doing. Why on earth when you are standing on a mat surrounded by dumbbells and weight plates would not look behind you before walking backwards? You can avoid getting embarrassed by simply paying attention to what you are doing. And also being serious for a minute you can avoid hurting yourself or someone else as well.
Diet Coke & Working Out Do Not Mix
I take in a huge bottle of water with me when I work out. You can get sports drinks but truth be told I am not keen on many of the extra ingredients that they have in them. And truth be told good old fashioned water is more than enough to keep you hydrated and is all you need. But that is not the case for some people. Diet Coke, Sprite, Pepsi and even a can of Red Bull are just a few of the things I have observed people drink. I mean even a person who has a very basic or no knowledge of working out must surely know that drinking a can of Coke in between sets is not a good thing to do?
