Ok so maybe avoid is a bit of a harsh word for some of these weight loss supplements as a few of them can have a somewhat placebo effect on people without doing any damage and if that’s the case then honestly I do not see any harm with it if its helping your weight loss. But some people seem to think that by using these things that they do not need to diet or exercise. I really wish that there was some kind of miracle pill out there that let you eat whatever you want and lose weight, but the staple of any diet should be diet and exercise and not based around these amazing weight loss supplements.
Bitter Orange
Ever since ephedra was banned because it was said to give people heart issues and other problems, people have flocked to bitter orange as some have said that it contains similar properties. The weird thing about bitter orange is that there is no scientific evidence what so ever to indicate that bitter orange in any shape or form offers any kind of help to your weight loss. I am not saying that this will be bad for you, but do not eat a bitter orange and think you are aiding your weight loss. If you like bitter orange then fair enough and it may even work as a healthy snack every once and a while but the actual bitter orange will not be aiding your weight loss.
Hoodia
Hoodia is a kind of plant and it has a mythical story to it where it has been said that it can help a person who is struggling to lose weight manage some sort of breakthrough and then start to see the weight drop off. If you ask me hoodia is something that is best to just avoid. Not one single study has shown that it in any way helps you lose weight. At best a couple of studies have shown that it can help, help being the key word here, it can help keep your hunger at bay. To make matters worse, hoodia can potential damage your liver and pregnant women and the elderly can get all kinds of health problems from eating too much of this stuff!
Apple Cider Vinegar
This is one of those old wives tales that has been passed down from generation to generation. This has long been regarded as an all-natural way to really help speed your weight loss up. In small quantities and every once and a while having apple cider vinegar on say a salad is not a bad thing at all. Just do not start pounding shots of this stuff thinking it’s going to help your waistline as too much vinegar can cause issues with things such as your digestive system and even your bones!
Acai Berries
I am still not really sure why this is regarded by so many people as a superfood. I mean sure it does contain a somewhat decent amount of antioxidants. But at the end of the day there are food that contain far more and if you ask me taste much better. Strawberries, grapes and even a glass of red wine have been proven to contain more antioxidants than acai berries. And to really rub salt in the wounds, no study has ever shown that acai berries has any kind of positive effect on your weight loss. Now acai berries are still actually good for you and they do not taste too bad either, but do not buy a whole bunch think they are going to help you start shedding the pounds.
