Back when I first got serious about losing weight I really could not have been more dedicated when it came to making sure I ate the right things and that I was also doing a good amount of exercise. As a person who was, letвЂ™s just say on the heavy side, I was finding that in the early days I was just losing a crazy amount of weight each week. Honestly on average it was like 2 or 3 pounds a week. I thought I was unstoppable and that nothing could stop me getting to my target weight, but the more weight you lose the harder it becomes. It got to a point where it was like week after week I would stay the same, gain a pound or lose a pound. Losing those last few pounds can be really tough. But here are a few tips to help.
Track What You Eat While Losing Weight
Make sure that as you are trying to get rid of those last few pounds that you are keeping an extensive food diary. A food diary is something that many of us start with, but kick it to the curb once we get a hang on things. Well break out the food diary once again and be sure to write down everything you eat to make sure you are not eating something you should not be. It can be easy to have the odd candy bar here bag of chips there and not think anything of it.
Look At What You Are Drinking
From a personal point of view it was the diet soda that I was drinking which was keeping me where I was at. I was still being strict with my food, but I was having one can of diet soda per day! It may not even be soda it could be the smoothies you are having or the flavored water you are drinking. If you are 100 percent happy in what it is you are eating, then it is most probably what it is you are drinking which is keeping you from shaking of the last few pounds.
Have Your Portions Increased?
Portion control is very important in the early days of losing weight, but as the weight starts to drop of us we can take it for granted and as a result making sure we are not over eating at meal times does not take priority like it once used to. Get back to basics and measure everything you are eating at meal times and make sure you are just eating what you really need and are not pigging out.
Sweat Last Pounds Out In The Gym
When you start to get really close to your weight loss goal, you really need to start stepping up your exercise. This can mean adding a few extra minutes to your cardio routine, adding an extra work out day and just in general kicking up the intensity in which you work out up. Dieting will get you far in your weight loss journey, but your diet needs a little help in the form of you getting up and doing some exercise. And those last few pounds really do need to be kicked off your body at the gym as trying to lose them through diet alone can be very frustrating!
